PICTURE DAY WITH NICHOLAS is an exciting journey. For a young boy with autism, school picture day isn't just about smiling for the camera — it's about overcoming fear.
The sudden flash feels overwhelming and the thought of picture day brings anxiety. For Nicholas, who is on the autism spectrum, the loud flash from the camera feels scary. Through daily practice, encouragement, and understanding with his teacher and family, you see how a challenging moment turns into a proud success.
Nicholas once again has his older brother, who does an amazing job getting him prepared for picture day. Nicholas's family always finds a way to work through difficult situations through their love for each other.
This uplifting story celebrates courage, understanding, and small victories that make a big difference.

The second book in the series about Nicholas and his family is finally here! It is a sweet story about the preparation that Nicholas and his family go through to try to make it a successful picture day at school. It is a great reminder that something that most of us take for granted, like having our picture taken, can be difficult and scary for a person on the autism spectrum. The author does a great job of explaining to her readers how Nicholas feels and how he perceives the world around him. Thank you for another creative and thought provoking book!
Thank you so much for this beautiful review! You captured exactly what we hoped readers would feel. Your support of Nicholas and his story mean the world to us.
Congratulations on your second book! Picture Day with Nicholas is such a beautiful and heartfelt story. What stood out to me most was not just Nicholas's journey, but the love, patience, and support surrounding him every step of the way, also what makes this story especially meaningful is knowing that Susan draws from her own experiences as a mother of three boys, including two sons on the autism spectrum. That firsthand understanding brings authenticity, compassion, and depth to the story, making Nicholas's journey feel genuine and relatable. You are not simply telling a story; you are sharing experiences that come from real life, and that shines through on every page. I especially loved the bond between Nicholas and his older brother Michael. The way he encouraged, supported, and believed in Nicholas was touching and showed the importance of family, patience, and unconditional love. Watching Nicholas slowly build confidence and overcome his fears reminded me that even the smallest victories are worth celebrating. The illustrations were beautiful, the message was powerful, and the ending brought a smile to my face. This book does a wonderful job of promoting awareness, acceptance, and understanding of autism while reminding us that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated. I am so proud of you for using your gift to create stories that educate, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of children and families. Wishing you continued success!

You captured the heart of what I hoped to share, that every child deserves to feel seen, supported and celebrated. Nicholas's journey is deeply personal to me as a mother and knowing it resonates with readers like you makes every page worthwhile. Your encouragement means a lot to my family and to the families we hope to reach.
Thank you for being a part of this journey!
